Bow ballRubber ball on the bow to protect the boat and help minimize injury in the event of a collision
Bow loaderType of boat where cox lies down within the boat in the bow end. Found in 4s and quads
BowsideLeft hand side of the boat when rowing (green)
CatchWhen the blade enters the water at frontstops
CoxThe person who steers the boat using the rudder
CrabWhen the blade gets caught in the water
DriveThe rowing phase of the stroke when the blades are square in the water 
Easy oars/easy thereVerbal instruction to stop rowing
ErgIndoor rowing machine
FeatherWhen the spoon of the blade is parallel to the water during the recovery
FinishThe end of the stroke where the blade handles are close to the chest and the blades are extracted from the water 
FirmTerm used to describe applying pressure in the drive of the stroke 
FrontstopsThe position at the catch 
GateThe metal bar/plastic that hold the oar in place allowing it to swivel 
Head raceA processional time trial race with a rolling start

RiggerThe metal on the side of the boat with the gate on the end where the blade is held
Rigger jiggerDouble ended spanner with a 10mm end and a 13mm end 
SquaringWhen the spoon of the blade is perpendicular to the water, this action is in preparation for the catch during the recovery
